Carved from a mountain over 300 years ago, the stage seen here, with its niches and arcades, was once an open arena for riding horses. Today, the venue hosts a variety of operas and concerts and also spoken theater - and is now part of the Salzburg Festival Hall complex.
This particular stage is more widely remembered as the Festival Stage from the movie, The Sound of Music. Unlike the film, the real-life von Trapps family never performed here.
The Festival Hall Tour is featured on the OFFICIAL TOUR.
