The astonishing “Eisreisenwelt” isn’t your ordinary dark and dirty cave system... instead, it’s a wonderland of gigantic ice formations and frozen rivers insulated from time deep within Tennengebirge. First discovered in the 19th century, the cave network disappears 26 miles into the mountainside. It is the largest in the world!
Visitors are provided with a miner’s lamp at the entrance to the caves. A jacket and good walking shoes are recommended (even during Summer) because temperatures inside the cave are below freezing and the whole tour involves walking up or climbing a distance of approximately 440 feet.
The Ice Caves are a guided tour and is a featured stop of the OFFICIAL TOUR.
