One of Austria’s most notable Rococo buildings, Schloss Leopoldskron has played a significant role in Salzburg history since the mid 1700s. After World War I, Max Reinhardt - the founder of the Salzburg Festival and Broadway producer, owned the palace and its elaborate gardens.
In the early 1960s, Hollywood arrived and filmed a movie here by the lake; The Sound of Music. Since then, this location has gained global popularity. Today, one can stroll around Leopoldskroner lake to admire the views. The castle itself is not open to the public.
Through exclusive arrangements and as part of the OFFICIAL TOUR, guests have the opportunity to stay overnight at this location - subject to availability. Ask for details. (Tour guests who have stayed here comment that it’s like living in the von Trapp home from the movie.)
