Mirabell Gardens
Scene 28

Situated in the shadow of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the world-famous Mirabell Gardens is considered to be one of the most beautiful Baroque gardens in Europe.

The gardens, as they appear today, were remodeled according to plans from 1689.  The oldest part of the garden, the “Grand Parterre,” is a balustrade entrance flanked by fencer couples that were crafted in the late 17th century.

A number of familiar scenes from The Sound of Music were filmed throughout the gardens.  Discover all of it’s beauty as part of the OFFICIAL TOUR.
